Carol is so calm, grounding and intuitive with both babies and adults. She was a vital part of both of my pregnancies/deliveries and I highly recommend her services. I was referred to Carol when I was contemplating working with a doula for the birth of my first child. I went to her for prenatal massage as a way to get to know her, and she remains my hands-down favorite massage therapist—for all times, not just pregnancy.
During my pregnancy, she helped us think about our birth plan and prepare for our delivery, in addition to giving those spectacular massages. We were a little uncertain about using a doula, mostly because we wanted the birth to be an intimate moment between the two of us, and weren't sure what having another person in the room would mean. But we quickly became doula-addicts!
As soon as I went to the hospital, Carol joined us and gave me a terrific massage to help me relax into labor. She waited, quietly in the background, then stepped into action when we needed her (without us ever realizing we needed her!). She massaged my lower back during contractions, gently coached us both and absolutely helped me get through natural childbirth. Afterward, she quietly left. She was completely unobtrusive, and completely essential. She offered options and suggestions, then respected our wishes and followed our lead.
My second delivery was so fast Carol didn't have to do much, but when our baby crowned much sooner than expected and my husband sprinted off to find the midwife, Carol was by my side, reassuring me to listen to my body. I cannot say enough about her and have recommended her to everyone expecting a baby and/or looking for a massage therapist. We also took an infant massage class with Carol and thought it was terrific. She's an essential ingredient in a peaceful, safe, confident birth plan.
